US Open 2012: Roger Federer Crashes Out

World number one Roger Federer Crashes Out from US open after losing quarter final match against Czech player Tomas Berdych on Wednesday. The sixth seeded Tomas Berdych beat Federer 7-6 (7/1), 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to reach his first US Grand Slam semi-final.

Disappointing Federer who wants to become the first male player to win six US Opens title, said, “I have got to go back to the drawing board from here. The goal (of winning Wimbledon and getting back to number one) has been achieved, but this is very disappointing.”

Berdych, will now face third seed English player Andy Murray on Sunday.

Andy Roddick heading for retirement

Meanwhile defending champion Novak Djokovic has reached his sixth successive US Open quarter-final. He will play Seventh-seeded Del Potro.

But the day went to American Andy Roddick who said goodbye to his career after losing to Argentina’s Del Potro  in the fourth-round match. This was Roddick’s last tournament. It was emotional farewell for the man who had won 32 titles in his 12 years of career. Addressing the crowd tearful Roddick said, “I’ve loved every minute of it — for the first time in my career I’m not sure what to say.”
