Five Arrested In Sivakasi Fire Tragedy

Five people including the owner of Om Shakti cracker factory have been arrested on Thursday. The Tamil Nadu government has temporarily suspended the license of the factory for violation of safety norms.

On Wednesday, 37 people were died after a massive fire broke out in the Om Shakti factory around 12.30 in the afternoon. Around 70 people were injured and admitted to the hospitals, some of them are reportedly in very serious condition.

The preliminary investigations have suggested that the explosion took place when the workers were mixing chemicals for making fireworks and crackers. As the Deepavali is near, the factory was full with all sorts of chemicals and explosive materials.
