Serena Williams Wins US Open 2012 Women’s Singles Title

In a thrilling third set match, Serena Williams beat World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka to win her fourth US Open single title on Sunday night at Flushing Meadows.

The exciting final match lasted over almost 2-hour, 18-minute and Serena beat Victoria Azarenka 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. This is Serena’s 15th Grand Slam title overall.

“I honestly can’t believe I won. I really was preparing my runner-up speech, because I thought, ‘Man, she’s playing so great’, I’m really shocked,” said Williams during the trophy presentation ceremony. Serena received prize money of whooping $1.9 million.

Fourth seed Serena becomes the third women player to win Wimbledon, the Olympics and the US Open in the same year.  Other two were, Venus Williams and Steffi Graf.

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
