Serena Williams out of Australian open

World number one Serena Williams has lost her fourth round Australian Open match against Ana Ivanovic. This loss also ended her 25^th match-winning streak.

Former world number one Ana Ivanovic was thrilled with the win and said, ”I think all the struggles were just for moments like this.”

”You work hard and you never know what’s going to happen. I just really enjoy competing. I’m not afraid [of] going deep against these top players. I feel ready, and I want to challenge everyone out there … I’m ready for the battle, and hopefully I can show this game all the way,” Ana added.

Serena’s lost comes at a shock of the tournament as she was playing like champion till the third round and was favourite to get her 18^th grand slam but her suffering from the after-effects of a long season in the heat and back injury could not allow her to give 100% to the match and lost it by 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

“Yeah, I almost pulled out. I probably should have but I’m such a competitor. I guess the secret is out but I obviously wasn’t hitting the way I normally would hit and wasn’t moving the way I normally would move. It wasn’t the best,” frustrated Serena said after the match.

Now defending champion and world number two Victoria Azarenka is favourite to defend her title as both her fierce rivals Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova has lost out from the tournament.
