Modi addresses as Korean President watches on

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in the far-eastern nation of South Korea completing his tri-nation trip, attempted to seek more South Korean investment in India, further promising the tycoons and the CEOs in Seoul a more stable taxing system. He further emphasised that his government is ‘working aggressively to make India a very easy place to do business.’

He addressed a CEO’s forum on the last day of his tour and stated that, “There is renewed commitment from my government to change the face of the country,” and promised his personal attention to hurdles.

He said his government machinery, in the last one year had restored India’s global positioning in the fields of politics, governance and economy alongwith many others. “But we are not going to stop here. We have to and we will do a lot better,” the PM commented. “There is a lot we can do together… there is potential for cooperation between India’s software and Korea’s hardware industry,” he further remarked.

His host and counter-part Korean President Park Geun-hye, also attended the India – Republic of Korea CEO’s Forum and coined a new term of ‘Modinomics’ further stating that, “Modinomics and Korea’s 3.0 economic plan can combine to become central drivers for lifting the global economy.” Meanwhile, Modi continued singing praises for the Korean industry machinery and said that the two countries had a lot in common. He also said he was “fascinated” by Korea. “I used to wonder how the country of the size of Gujarat can achieve so much… We want to achieve what Korea has already done, that is why we are here,” he concluded in his address.

Korean products, Prime Minister Modi, noted are a “household choice in India.” He said several hundred Korean companies are operating in India, noting, “Hyundai is the second largest car manufacturer in India.” Later that day, India and South Korea agreed to ‘step up defence cooperation’ while Seoul pledged $10 billion in finance for infrastructure projects.
