BJP calls Manmohan Singh’s tenure a disaster

Reacting to Manmohan Singh’s attack on Narendra Modi, BJP President Rajnath Singh on Friday lashed out at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by saying his comment is ‘laughable.’

“I condemn the PM’s statement on Narendra Modi. Modi has been given a clean chit by the SIT and by the court. The PM’s remark on Modi is laughable,” said Rajnath.

“Government’s are expected to control inflation, generate employment and curb corruption. The UPA failed on all three fronts,” Rajnath added.

BJP President Rajnath Singh said, “Narendra Modi has made Gujarat a model of development for the country, PM’s statement on Modi is condemnable.”

“PM saying they performed better than NDA is hilarious. Growth rate at our time was 8.4%, it has now stooped to its lowest during UPA regime,” Rajnath further added.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh earlier said that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be a disaster for India if he became the Prime Minister of India.

“Without going into the credentials of anyone, I think it will be disastrous for the country to have Narendra Modi as the PM. Strong leader does not mean you preside over the mass massacre of people in Ahmedabad,” Manmohan Singh told reporters.

BJP leader Arun Jaitley said Prime Minister’s press conference was a sham.

“The PM’s press conference was a farce. PM admits that his govt failed to curb corruption, unemployment,” Jaitley said.

“He (Singh) admitted that he failed to contain corruption and inflation, and failed to generate jobs. But he could not give a solution to the problems that he highlighted. He was not honest in introspection of his tenure,” Jaitley told reporters.

Criticising Manmohan Singh’s comment on Modi, Jaitley siad “This kind of language does not suit the Prime Minister.”

“Monitored judicial process has vindicated Narendra Modi thrice. Modi has been under intense scrutiny, he is perhaps the most scrutinised leaders since 1947,”  he added.
