Yoga guru Baba Ramdev may be arrested today over his comment on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s ‘honeymoon visits to Dalit homes’.
The election commission has banned Ramdev’s Yoga sibirs in Lucknow despite his apology. The demand of charge Ramdev under the SC/ST Act has been growing across many states in India.
After UP, now an Ahmedabad-based NGO has also lodged an FIR against Ramdev for “insulting” the Dalit community by saying “Rahul Gandhi visits Dalit homes for honeymoon and picnic”.
“Last night, we lodged an FIR under ‘zero’ number against Ramdev and later forwarded it to Mahanagar police station in Lucknow,” police inspector DH Desai said.
Dalit Activist Ratna Vora, on behalf of her organisation ‘Ambedkar Karwan’, has filed a complaint against Ramdev.
“I was shocked after watching Ramdev on TV when he was saying that Rahul Gandhi visits Dalit family to enjoy picnic and honeymoon and I decided to file a complaint against him,” Vora told PTI.
The FIR demands action against Ramdev under section 3(1) (X) of the Prevention of Atrocities Act which covers intentionally insults or intimidates with intent to humiliate a member of a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe in any place within public view.
