Photos taken by Russian chimpanzee sell for $76,000 at auction

A set of Photographs taken by a talented Russian chimpanzee named Mikki in 1990s sold at Sotheyby’s auction in London on Wednesday for 50,000 pounds ($76,680).

Photos taken by Russian chimpanzee Mikki sold at $76,000 at Sotheyby's auction in London The photos titled, “Our Moscow through the Eyes of Mikki,” captured Moscow Red Square, images of Russian-born American conceptual artists Vitaly Komar and Alexander Melmaid. Some photos may look like blurred, misty and but they are exceptional, they are Mikki’s version.

Mikki who died in died in 2007, used to perform at Moscow circus and later trained by Komar and Melmaid to take pictures.

One of the photos includes Mikki’s own picture standing beside his camera which was taken by his trainer duo.

A Russian art collector Kira Flanzaich purchased the set.
