COLOURS OF JAIPUR LITERATURE FESTIVAL 2020

Jaipur Literature Festival is ‘The greatest literary show on Earth’ which brings beauty by showcasing the heritage and culture of the pink city. Fest started on 23rd January to 27th January 2020. The five days fest took place in Diggi Palace which is located in the heart of the Pink City. The fest itself is buzzing with the conversation of literature, art, politics, current affair and history. The Jaipur Literature Festival started its journey in 2007 as the Jaipur Virasat Foundation. It is also known for its large audience which witnesses the event and makes this event as a Maha Kumbh of literature.
The core of the 13th Jaipur Literature Festival as it brings together writers from across India representing a multitude of the country’s languages. It featured 200 plus sessions with over 300 speakers from India as well as across the world which represent vast canvas of Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Nagamese, Oriya, Prakrit, Rajasthani, Sanskrit, Santhali, Tamil and Urdu writing. This fest takes the best minds from the world and presents in front of a distinct audience. It offers free and fair access platforms to every literature lover.
This year’s fest brings some famous and renowned national as well as international speakers. Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sonali Bandre, Shobha Mudgal, Shashi Tharoor, Lemn Sissay, Robert Svoboda, Manish Malhotra, Namita Gokhale, Tom Holland, Peter Hassler are some of the speakers whom people enjoyed listening to the most.
Jaipur Literature Festival offers some of the other events too which include Jaipur music stage which held in hotel Clarks Amer, Heritage event which held in the Amber fort, school outreach programme held by Pratham books and youth outreach programme held by the Yuva Ekta Foundation.
The fest is also famous among people for its beautiful festival bazaar which is a grand canvas of India’s vast artisanal repertoire. The fest had three different bazaars which are mainly known as the pool bazaar and the festival bazaar at Diggi Palace on all five days and the night bazaar at Jaipur music stage at hotel Clarks Amer on the first three days of the festival which empower small scale artisans, craftsmen and entrepreneurs. These markets are filled with textiles, stationery, jewellery, footwear, home decor and utilities. bazaars had more than 70 stalls.
The annual event that goes beyond literature, the festival has also hosted Amartya Sen, Amitabh Bachchan, The late APJ Abdul Kalam, his holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Oprah Winfrey, Stephen Fry, Thomas Piketty and Former President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai.
Festival brings together a diverse mix of the world’s greatest writers, thinkers, politicians, business leaders, sportspeople and entertainers on one stage to express and engage in thoughtful debate and dialogue. And also with each year passing JLF will bring us the rainbow colours of literature and love for books.
