Novak Djokovic storms into third round of French Open after thrashing Argentina’s Guido Pella 6-2 6-0 6-2 in the second round on a rainy day at Roland Garros.
“It’s like deja vu from two days ago, you know, coming in and out and warming up five times,” said Djokovic.
“But it is the way it is, it’s weather. You can’t affect the nature. I’m just glad that I finished the match today,” he added.
He will now face 26th seed Grigor Dimitrov who had recently beaten Djokovic on the Madrid clay open.
In women’s singles, third seed Victoria Azarenka enters third round with a 6-4 6-3 victory over Germany’s Annika Beck. Defending champion Maria Sharapova, 7th seed Petra Kvitova, 17th seed Sloane Stephens and 18th seed Jelena Jankovic also through to the third round.
Sixth seed and 2011 champion Li Na exits from French Open after she lost out 5-7 6-3 6-2 to American Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
