English Premier League champions Manchester United and Chelsea are set to renew their rivalry. But this time it’s off the field. A big tug of war between the two titans is on the cards once the transfer window opens in January next year.
The player who is in the middle of all this is Xabi Alonso. Alonso who is currently making a comeback into the Real Madrid playing eleven after missing the opening three months of the La Liga will have his contract with the Spanish giants expired at the end of the ongoing season. There is also no initiative on behalf of the player to renew terms with his present club. At this moment Manchester United and Chelsea are rumoured to be interested in this creative midfielder. The news that the Spanish international has already held talks with the Red Devils regarding a possible transfer in January is on air.

Jose Mourinho who was the manager of Real Madrid team for last three years has also shown interest in this former Merseysider. A possibility of Alonso joining Chelsea thus can never be regarded worthless. Juventus has also shown some interest in the player and has offered a swap-deal involving Andrea Pirlo to the Real officials. But Carlos Ancelotti has discarded such probabilities. He is also reluctant to let the player leave as early as in January as he thinks that the Spaniard has a lot to contribute to Real in this campaign.
