Andy Murray wins Wimbledon title


Ending 77 years wait, British tennis star Andy Murray wins his first Wimbledon title beating world number one Novak Djokovic 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 at the All England Club on Sunday.

In presence of 15,000 strong home crowd which included British Prime Minister David Cameron, Murray’s parents, girlfriend Kim Sears and coach Ivan Lendl, Murry created history.

“I obviously understand how much everyone wants a British winner at Wimbledon. I hope you guys enjoyed that, I did my best.” said world number two Murray.

Olympic gold medalist Murray had also won this last year’s US Open.

British Prime Minister David Cameron paid tribute to Andy Murray’s Wimbledon victory.

“It was an amazing performance from Andy Murray, but also an amazing day for British tennis and for Britain. He never gave up and it was magnificent,” he told BBC.
