The BJP government in Haryana decided to entitle Ramdev Baba as the brand ambassador of Yoga and Ayurveda on Monday. He has also been given the rank of a Cabinet Minister. The government said that his elevation of status as a Cabinet minister is an attempt to promote yoga and Ayurveda in the state. Ramdev will also be honored by the state government in Panchkula on April the 21st.
“Baba Ram Dev Brand Ambassador for promotion of Yoga and Ayurveda in Haryana will be given status equivalent to a Cabinet Minister,” Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij tweeted.
He visited the headquarters of Ramdev’s Pantanjali Yogpeeth which is located in Haridwar in January when the announcement of making him the brand ambassador was made.
On Monday, Vij announced the cabinet rank for Ramdev.
Vij said: “It is an honor that the government has given to Swami Ramdev keeping in view his national and international status”.
This measure was taken by the state government to make Yoga compulsory in schools. Yogshalas will be built in all towns and villages of the state under Baba Ramdev’s guidance. Physical education teachers will be sent for Yoga training to Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar.
Anganwari (Preschool) workers are also being trained so that they can pass on Yoga exercises to children.
Refresher courses will be organized for 550 doctors of the Ayush Department at Patanjali Yogpeeth and the Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College will be upgraded as a university to promote Ayurvedic education.
Ramdev will also help the government to build a herbal forest consisting of Ayurvedic herbs.
