Dutch man arrested for murdering British woman in Kashmir

A Dutch tourist has been arrested by Police in connection of a murder of 24-year-old British woman Sarah Elizabeth Groves at a houseboat on Srinagar’s Dal Lake in Kashmir on Saturday.

The stabbed body of a young British woman was found in a houseboat on Friday and Police has arrested a Dutch tourist who was also staying with her on the houseboat and fled suspiciously with just his passport.

“This morning my wife got up at 5am and shouted to me to go out and buy bread. I could see that the door of the houseboat was already open. I went into the houseboat. He was not there. Then I saw Sarah. There was blood all over her body. My son took her to the hospital,” houseboat’s owner, Abdul Rahim Shoda told The Independent.

“He has been detained and his questioning is going on,” said senior police officer Afhad-ul-Mujtaba.
