Students from Gulf countries and Afghanistan, studying in institutes in Noida, Ghaziabad and Meerutare under scrutiny after the Merut Divisional Commissioner Alok Sinha asked the district magistrates and senior superintendents of police of six districts under the division to keep an eye on students, according to a Times Of India report.

Intelligence reports have suggested that these students, as also Indian students, may be in touch with the Islamic State terrorists who are prying their eyes on the youth. Based on this, Sinha has asked the concerned officials to search for those who have suddenly started having living a lavish life contradicting their family earnings.

Cyber cafes in the areas will be monitored and contemplation will be on the suspicious people who visit there quite often.

According to the TOI report, Sinha told officials that non-traditional resources like personnel from revenue, forest and health departments can be useful for collecting important information and tracking activities of antisocial groups which are engaged in spreading communal hatred. He also asked DMs and SSPs to make sure that all the tenants living in these districts are verified by SHOs of the respective areas.
