Child kidnapped and killed for 50 lakhs

Mumbai: The Guchait family must have never imagined this even in their bad dreams that their little son Rohan would be snatched away from them in a cruel manner. April 17th was a nightmare for the family as their twelve-year-old boy went missing and later it was established that he was kidnapped.

On 27th April, exactly 10 days later, his decomposed body parts were found in the drainage of the market where the accused had thrown them.

Rohan GuchaitThis whole kidnapping took place on 17th April. The main accused in this case Ishaq Sayed Sheikh who did works electronics related work in the jewellery shop owned by the victim’s father Uttam Guchait. Ishaq along with three others intrigued the plan and executed it by kidnapping Rohan.

Ishaq took Rohan along with him under the pretext of him being called in the shop. Ishaq took Rohan on his bike at some distance where the other three were waiting with a Maruti 800 car. The four then pushed Rohan into the car and fled away.

The same afternoon when Rohan’s parents were surprised by his absence at home for a long time they began looking for him in the locality. Even after surfing the whole area with the help of neighbours and friends, Rohan was nowhere to be found. The family then approached the Bazar Peth Police where their complaint was registered at 11 in the night.

On the afternoon of the next day, Rohan’s parents received a call for ransom after which it was established that 12-year-old Rohan Guchait had been kidnapped. The kidnapper in his call warned the family of not approaching the police and placed a demand of Rs. 50 lakh.

Meanwhile in the sequence of events, Ishaq the main accused, being known to the family happened to visit them from where he got to know that they had already approached the police. The same night, the four of them decided to murder Rohan in Ishaq’s brother-in-law’s flat where he was kept. After killing Rohan, his chopped body parts were thrown at three different locations.

The family had no clue the boy was killed as even after killing the kidnappers continued to make ransom calls to the family. Three days later, Kidnap_1the police did recover the chopped legs of the boy. For the police, it was hard to believe that those legs belonged to the boy as the family was still receiving calls from kidnappers.

The on the basis of call records, inputs from the informers and CCTV footage scanning the police identified Ishaq and nabbed all four of them. Ishaq’s call records highlighted that he was present in the residential area of Rohan. The CCTV footage too, showed Ishaq with the boy which made it clear that he was behind the kidnapping.

The mastermind of this crime Ishaq is an electrician and resides in Bali Bazaar. His three accomplices in this crime include Imitiaz Abdul is a resident of Bali Bazaar and does some menial work, Ganesh Patil too lives in Bali Bazaar and works in real estate field and the third one is Nilesh Savle who is also a resident of Bali Bazaar. Ishaq, Imtiaz and Nilesh did not have any criminal record but Ganesh did have a case of dacoit against him.

The Kalyan Police has booked the accused under Section 128 (B), 201, 302, 363, 363 (A) and 366 of Indian Penal Code.

All the four committed this crime to earn money easily and in a short-cut way. Money is truly a necessity but earning it honestly is important. There are no gains without any pains. Before committing a crime, every criminal thinks that his crime is perfect and that he cannot be caught. But sooner or later every crime comes into a limelight and every criminal finds himself behind the bars. In this case, an innocent 12-year-old boy lost his life due to the greed of 4 persons. The boy is no more, the family is depressed and the criminals are in the jail – so, which person has been benefited from this crime? Nobody. That is why it is said that ‘crime never pays.’
