AAP to form government in Delhi

Ending all speculations the Aam Aadmi Party today announced that they are going to form the next government in Delhi with outside support from the Congress. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is going to be the new and the youngest chief minister of Delhi.

arvind-kejriwalArvind Kejriwal met Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung today and stake claim to form the government. The swearing-in ceremony will be taken place at Ramlila Maidan on December 26  instead of Kejriwal’s proposed place at Jantar Mantar.

“We want a swearing in ceremony at Jantar Mantar, I will take this request to the Lt Governor,” Kejriwal earlier said.

“I am not becoming the chief minister of Delhi but the common man is becoming the chief minister,” Kejriwal added.

“We will not ally with the Congress party or the BJP. We will go to the Lt Governor and say the public has asked us to form the government. When our majority will be tested, those who wish to serve the people of Delhi will support us. If we form the government, we will deliver on all promises,” said AAP leader Kumar Vishwas had said earlier.

Delhi Congress chief Arviner Singh said AAP’s decision is right and Congress will give outside support.

“We didn’t want Delhiites to be burdened with another election. It’s good they are forming the government. We are giving outside support. They should implement their manifesto. If they work well, we will continue supporting them. If not, we will not support them. They should address all issues directly connected with people like water, electricity and employment. If they don’t work well then the government may not even run for three months. We don’t approve of the language they used,” Arviner Singh said.

The single largest party BJP said the alliance between AAP and Congress is a betrayal to the Delhi people.

“Kejriwal has compromised his principles for power. This is a betrayal to Delhi as Delhi voted against the Congress,” BJP leader Dr. Harsh Vardhan  said.

Team Anna member Kiran Bedi raised doubtns on the AAP-Congress alliance.

“I don’t know how long this alliance will last. As a resident of Delhi, I don’t want to be a witness of mutual allegations. The alliance is very fragile. We voted for stability, growth, integrity, not a war of allegations,” Bedi said.
