The Indian aviation market is one of the fastest growing sectors in the World. Indian domestic Aviation sector tripled in the last five years. India has around 17 high-class international airports. Airports of Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad are among the top five airports in the world according to Airports Council International.

It serves as a hub for SpiceJet, Lufthansa Cargo and Blue Dart Aviation and also a focus city for Air India, Jet Airways, and JetLite.

2. Indira Gandhi International Airport – Delhi

Indira Gandhi International Airport is the primary airport of Delhi, situated in Palam. It is the busiest and largest airport in India and South Asia with current capacity of handling more than 46 million passengers per year. In 2011, the IGIA was conferred the second-best airport in the world in the 25-40 million passengers category. In 2012 it was voted as the best Airports in India.

3. Bengaluru International Airport – Bangalore

Bengaluru International Airport is located 4 kilometres south of Devanahalli and almost 40 km from the central business district of Bangalore. It replaced the former HAL airport. It has been awarded “India’s best airport” for the year 2011 by the survey conducted by Skytrax

5. Chennai International Airport – Chennai

Chennai International Airport is the primary airport in Chennai. It is the third busiest airport in India in terms of both international and overall passenger traffic. As of 2012, the annual passenger traffic at the airport is about 13 million.

6. Goa International Airport – Goa

Goa International Airport or Dabolim Airport operates as a civil enclave in a military airbase named INS Hansa. It is 4 km from Vasco da Gama and 30 km from Panjim.

7. Raja Sansi International Airport – Amritsar

Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport located about 11 km from city of Amritsar in Punjab. It is one of the largest airports in North India. The Airport handles about 100 commercial flights a week.

9. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport – Ahmedabad

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport  is India’s eighth busiest airport with an average of 250 aircraft movements a day. The airport is located 8 km from the Ahmedabad Railway Station. The airport is a Major HUB of Deccan Shuttles and Blue Dart Airlines.

10. Trivandrum International Airport – Thiruvananthapuram

Trivandrum International Airport is the first airport in the state of Kerala and also it is the first international airport in a non-metro city in India. It is the 8th busiest airport in India in terms of international passenger traffic and 10th busiest in terms of overall passenger traffic.
