Charge sheet files in Nido Tania Death Case

The CBI has filed a charge sheet against seven people in the killing of 19-year-old Northeast student Nido Tania. The charge sheet says that the victim was killed after a quarrel over breaking of a glass counter.

The seven including three juveniles were accused of culpable homicide under section 304, illegal confinement and offences under the SC/ST Atrocities Act.

Nido Tania, a son of Congress MLA Nido Pavibtra from Arunachal Pradesh was found dead mysteriously January 30, a day after he had involved in a brawl with some local shopkeepers at Lajpat Nagar in Delhi. Reportedly Nido was teased at first for his hairstyle but later the argument intensified and he was beaten severely.

Initially the Delhi Police had investigated before transferring the case to CBI and the police had slapped murder charges against four adult shopkeepers following the postmortem report of Nido Tania suggested that a possible death because of head and face injury.
