Asaram Bapu’s judicial custody extended

The Rajasthan High Court has extended 14 days judicial custody of the self-styled godman Asaram Bapu in Sexual assault case extended.

In her complaint the 16-year-old girl alleged that the 72-year-old Asaram sexually assaulted her inside a room at his ashram near Jodhpur for more than an hour, while her parents were sitting outside performing the “ritual” for her daughter’s well-beings directed by the Ashram.

In court today victim’s lawyer Manish Vyas alleged that the family is receiving threats from Asaram aids and asking them to withdraw the case against Asaram. Mr. Vyas demanded safety for the girl’s family.

“I have urged the police to ensure adequate security to the family,” Vyas said.

Appearing for Asaram, Lawyer Ram Jethmalani argued in the court but could not buy bail for his client.
