A farmer attempted suicide at the venue of the Aam Aadmi Party’s Kisaan Rally at New Delhi on Wednesday. The man was identified to be Ganjendar Singh from Dausa, Rajasthan. A witness said that he tried to hang himself from a tree.

Apparently, the rope broke off and Singh fell off the tree. A crowd gathered under the tree and freed the man from the rope. The tree was a meagre 100 m away from the stage. There was a mini stampede at the venue as the party volunteers rushed him out.

He was rushed to the nearest RML hospital where he was declared dead. Arvind Kejriwal along with Manish Sisodia rushed to the hospital soon after Kejriwal’s speech was over.

Rahul Gandhi too rushed to the hospital to check up on the farmer.

The AAP could not believe what happened at the rally and said that the suicide scene was nothing but a conspiracy. MLA Somnath Bharti tweeted that he was utterly shocked with the incident which appeared to be a well thought off conspiracy.

The man hung himself during the speech of senior AAP member Kumar Vishwas.

The police recovered a suicide note in which Ganjendar Singh had written that he wished to end his life as his crops had been destroyed. He also wrote that his father had thrown him out of the house as the crops were destroyed. He ended the note by writing ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’.

He is survived by his wife and 3 children.
