PizzaExpress expands the number of outlets in India

Indians are soon going to enjoy an Italian feast of a variety of pizzas with the PizzaExpress planning to expand its territories across India. Having planned to invest around Rs. 150 crore in the next five years, it is going to give rise to 50 more restaurants across the country.

PizzaDebuted in Mumbai, in 2012, Pizza Express has around six restaurants in the financial capital Mumbai. This pizzeria entered in Delhi, the NCR market with the launch of its first restaurant in Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj. Trailing the launch, PizzaExpress is set to open its second restaurant in Gurgaon (Ambience Mall) as it strategizes to capture the diverse and welcoming taste of Indians.

While Indian and Chinese foods reckon to be half the population’s choice, the mild flavors of the Continental and Italian food are trying to mimic the choices by a gripping 11 per cent.

“I want PizzaExpress to become the benchmark for pizzas in India, Clearly, there is more consumer awareness and demand for premium Italian offerings in India today and we believe that our product and restaurant experience are key differentiators for our brand.” Says Ramit Bharti Mittal; head of strategy and business development for Atrium Restaurants India.

As quoted in The Times of India, “Within the organized food chain segment, casual dining is growing at over 18% (CAGR) and is estimated to reach around Rs 9,000 crore by 2018, according to industry estimates.”
