Do you really ever move on?

–They say you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s really gone. The truth, however, is that you knew exactly what you had, yet you’d just thought you’d never lose it.

How often have we faced situations where in we have felt things shall never change, no matter what happens? We feel eternity shall last. We believe that no matter what happens, nothing shall change. Ever. Or even if they do, time would fill in the gaps and return things back to normalcy. They say ‘fate’ plays a part in the happenings. Probably it does. Probably not. Just when you thought things were on the right track, bizarre happens. The person closest to you drifts away. You don’t realise how, you don’t comprehend why- as they say, shit happens. You let it happen. No, I don’t say you’ve to be insane and keep sticking to things or to people despite changes. Change is inevitable- ought to happen some day. Some time.

Time flies, bonds break, connections fade away. Memories diminish but wait, they do last. They recede into the backdrop, letting your foreground have space of its own to welcome in newness. That newness could be warm, could be full of mirth, could be painful, but wait, let’s focus on positivity here. Pretence could be a great factor here. You let new things develop your own self. You try out good food, visit places, shop- You do stuff that you’ve never tried before and find them exhilarating. Your soul which died in the process when you lost yourself becomes alive, once again. You feel a renewed source of vigour surfacing in yourself. And then it feels you’ve ‘moved on’.

But, do you really ever move on? As said, memories diminish. They don’t affect you anymore. You keep them aside, not discard them completely because back then, they were really memorable to you. And now, when they resurface in your life, you don’t feel intimidated. You feel alright. And happy.
