Bandhavgarh National Park

I was under the impression that only actors & actresses are the most photographed celebrities until I met Sita, a tigress who lived in Bandhavgarh National Park. She is considered the most photographed tiger in the world having appeared on the cover of National Geographic!

This is the Bandhavgarh National Park that derives its name from one of the stories of Lord Ram and his brother Laxman. It was declared as a national park in 1968 and has an area of about 105 sq. km. It is located in the Umarai district of Madhya Pradesh, India.

The main inhabitant of this park is the Royal Bengal Tiger and the White Tiger is a major attraction. A large number of leopards, deers and elephants can also be seen here. Vegetation mainly consists of sal and bamboo. Apart from this, there are about 200 species of birds and 80 species of butterflies.

This park is a treat especially for those who love the ‘big cat’ and you will definitely spot many tigers during the open jungle safari; one more thing, the tigers here are not camera-shy! February to June is the ideal period for visit.
