Djokovic lifts Wimbledon 2014

Novak Djokovic got the taste of winning the final for the second time in the biggest stage of lawn tennis as he beat the former world no 1 Roger Federer in a marathon five-setter. Djokovic hung tough and fought till the end never giving up and finally came out on top of the maestro-Roger Federer. In a djokovic wins wimbledon 2014 beating federermatch that lasted 4 hours and few minutes Djokovic got better of the 7-times Wimbledon champion by a scoreline of 6(9)-7, 6-4, 7-6(4), 5-7, 6-4.

It was a real clash of the titans as both the players played to their skins. In the first set, Federer saved a couple of set points and eventually won that set in the tie-break. Djokovic came back strongly winning the second set 6-3. In the third set tie-breaker Djokovic did not repeat the mistakes that he committed in the first set tie-breaker to take a lead in the match. In the third set Federer showed why he is regarded as a true legend. He came back from one break down to win the set. At 5-2 while Djokovic was on the verge of winning the set and the match, Federer hold his serve and then broke his opponent twice and won 5 games on a row to win the set. That really sparked a lot of fire. In third set it was even-steven until the final game federerwhere Djokovic broke Federer to win the set 6-4.

Finally after an intriguing battle, the All England Lawn Tennis Club got its champion and it was Novak Djokovic. After 3 attempts he at last managed to get hold of the first Grand Slam title this year. And that too the Wimbledon, defeating the 7-time champion. Really it can’t get any sweeter than this for the Serb. Federer came very close to winning his 8th title here but he lost out to Djokovic’s patience and never-say-die attitude but his fairy tale come back in fourth set will remain in the memories of all those watching as one of the greatest fight backs of all time.
