If the opening day of Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell test series belonged to debutant Mohammad Shami, then the second day surely goes to another debutant Rohit Sharma. 
When India was completely down and out before lunch having lost 5 wickets it was Rohit Sharma who, first, along with skipper Dhoni and then with off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin steadied the Indian ship.
India went into the stumps on Day 2 of the first of the two test match series at 354-6 with Rohit Sharma batting on 127 and Ravichandran Ashwin on 92.
Earlier in the day the crowd saw a poor batting display from the Indian top order as the openers went out cheaply. Cheteshwar Pujara and Sachin Tendulkar tried put on some runs but the West Indian bowled with discipline as they reduced India to 83-5. While most of the Indian top order batsmen went out playing poor shots, Sachin Tendulkar was unlucky to be given wrongly given out in his penultimate match when he was only on 10. The whole stadium was absolutely stunned when umpire Nigel Llong put up his dreaded finger. However the master left the ground as the whole stadium went up on their feet to greet him just like 
when he entered the field after the fall of the second wicket.
Rohit Sharma on the other hand carried on from where he left in the series against Australia as he made use of the conditions to score a hundred on debut. Ashwin is on 92 and is also looking settled for another hundred. India after being rattled by Shane Shillingford in the first session of the day’s play has made a good recovery and has taken the driver’s seat in this test match.
