Yuvi misses out; Samson and Karn make the cut

Yuvraj Singh was left out of the seventeen member squad that will be playing a one day series against England after the end of the ongoing five-match test series. Speculations were high that Yuvraj Singh might find himself out of the national squad after a dismal performance for a long time spanning from the ICC Champions Trophy way back in March.

The national selectors decided to make couple of new inclusions in the team in the name of Sanju Samson and Karn Sharma. Sanju has got this opportunity for he has been playing well in Australia for India A. Karn Sharma got a call in the squad for first-choice leg-spinner Amit Mishra is nursing an injury.

yuvraj singhAmong the others, Suresh Raina who captained the national side in Bangladesh retained his spot. Ishant Sharma failed to find a place in the team. Mohit Sharma, Dhawal Kulkarni and Ambati Rayudu all retained their spot in the national team.

The inclusion of Samson and Karn Sharma seems to be a good move for the world cup 2015 is not too far away. There won’t be too many opportunities to test the players in difficult conditions. So this tour might well turn out to be a fruitful one for it might produce the next youngsters of Indian cricket. However all depends on whether they will get a chance to prove their mettle for Dhoni has been quite popular for not giving chances to young members in the squad.

Indian Squad: Dhoni (Capt.), Kohli (vc), Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Rahane, Raina, Jadeja, Ashwin, Binny, Bhubhaneshwar, Shami, Mohit Sharma, Rayudu, Umesh, Dhawal, Sanju and Karn Sharma
