No Khel Ratna for Krishna Poonia

After delaying for days, finally Union Sports Minister Jitendra Singh clears the national sports awards file on Thursday.

With minister’s signing all speculations regarding reconsideration of athlete Krishna Poonia’s name for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award alongside Double-trap shooter Ronjan Sodhi, , put to rest. Krishna Poonia is not getting Khel Ratna.

“We looked into their grievances and that was the reason why we delayed the announcement of the awards. But we found that only one sportsperson can get the award. There are no changes in the recommendations made by the committee and we will announce it today [Thursday[,”A senior official told IANS.
