Manchester United eye an ambitious move

English Premier League champions Manchester United is eyeing an ambitious move for German international Marco Reus who is currently playing for Borussia Dortmund. The giants have targeted this young playmaker from Germany in order to strengthen their midfield which has not played up to the mark this season.

Marco ReusReus who had a great season with the German club having scored 19 times has three-and-a-half left in his contract. But rumours are high that the English club is setting up a bid for the 24-year old promising midfielder in the mid-season transfer window. The transfer talks between the two clubs can well reach to an advanced position since Manchester United is ready to swap Shinji Kagawa with Reus besides paying the transfer fees.

Shinji Kagawa who came to United during the tenure of Sir Alex Ferguson for a projected fee of 17.6 million pounds has failed to cement his position in the first team due to some injury problems since his arrival. Also he has not been able to give his best for Red Devils on the field. Besides this following the departure of Mario Goetze from the midfield Kagawa will surely be able to Ilkay Gundoganfind a place in the first team in his former club. So chances of Kagawa leaving United are very high.

If United is able to make this transfer a success it will be huge boost in their bid to retain the Premier League title. Reus’ presence in the midfield behind Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie could well be lethal combination for the English giants. The English champions are also targeting Ilkay Gundogan, Reus’ teammate in order to strengthen their defensive play though their interest in this player is not very clear.
