Hussey makes a complete volte-face

Mike HusseyAustralian southpaw Mike Hussey made a complete U-turn last day when he stated that he was wrong on Gurunath Meiyappan’s role in the Chennai Super Kings team. He stated that he misinterpreted about the actual role of Gurunath in his team.

Few days back Mike Hussey in his autobiography Underneath the Southern Cross mentioned that N. Srinivasan had handed over total control of the Chennai team to his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan and accused him for interfering in various matters related to the team on and off the field.

However Hussey was quoted saying in the Cricket Couch podcast on ‘ESPNcricinfo’ that he was not clear about the position of Gurunath in the team and that it was an incorrect assertion on his behalf. He said, “Certainly Guru was around the team a lot. I knew he was talking to Kepler (Wessels, coach of CSK in IPL 2008) and the players , and we saw him at training and hotel…I didn’t know what his official title was but he was around the team quite often. I probably may have written the wrong thing…”

I am certainly not to question the word of Mr. Srinivasan. I think he would know a lot better than me about who is running the show. So maybe I got that a little bit wrong”.

Hussey also confessed that he had apologized to Srinivasan for his comments on his son-in-law who has been charge sheeted for active participation in gambling, cheating and criminal conspiracy in spot-fixing and betting scandal in the IPL.
