Federer surrenders to Nadal’s brilliance

Rafael Nadal brought out his best against hid old friend and foe Roger Federer to hand him yet another straight set defeat. Now it has been 5 Grand Slams that Federer has failed to reach the final. Today Federer could do nothing at all in front Nadal’s all round performance. In a one-sided battle of 2 hours and just less than 30 minutes Federer lost it 6-7, 3-6, 3-6 against the top seeded player of the tournament. Federer found Nadal’s extra pace in the top spin ground strokes really too hot to handle. Such was the dominance of the Rafael Nadal beat Roger Federercurrent world number 1 that the Swiss maestro just got 5 break points throughout the match and among those he could convert just one in the third set. On the other hand Nadal broke his opponent thrice in the match, first in the 6th game of the second set and then twice in the third set. In the third Federer got desperate after failing to hold his serve in the third game as he went on to get the break back in the very next game. But that was just the delaying of the inevitable, as Nadal got the better of Federer in his serve twice in the last three games to finish the match in style. Federer’s unforced errors counted up to more than 50 and did hurt him badly. In the end Nadal nadalextended his extraordinary run against the master in head-to-head comparisons.

Nadal is now set to face another Swiss in the final in the form of Stanislas Wawrinka. Wawrinka who created the upset by beating tournament favourite Djokovic in the quarter final maintained his great run in the semifinal as well as he overcame the challenge of Thomas Berdych in four sets on the previous day. Nadal will surely face a stiffer challenge from Wawrinka who is playing absolutely brilliant tennis at the moment, but the way he crossed the barrier of Federer will surely give him a lot of confidence to add to his Grand Slam tally.
