Bopanna and Qureshi decide to re-unite

The successful Indo-Pak pair of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi has decided to renew their partnership for the upcoming season set to begin within few months time.

Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq QureshiBopanna and Qureshi last played together in the final of the ATP World Tour Final in London in 2011. As a doubles team they reached the final of the US Open in 2010 and won the ATP World Tour Master’s 1000 title in Paris the following year. They also found a place in the top 10 of the ATP world rankings for their consistent performances. The duo then broke up in 2011 once Bopanna decided to play with Mahesh Bhupathi in the 2012 London Olympics.

Bopanna, currently ranked 5th on the ATP doubles ranking, looked really excited on renewing their old partnership as he said, “It’s always a delight to partner an old friend and specially someone with whom I have a great understanding, on and off the court.” He added, “I’ve always felt that we have a complementary playing style and the experience that we have playing with each other is an added advantage.”

Qureshi, who played the entire season with Jean Julien-Rojer from Netherlands, did not have a great time on the court except winning the title at Miami Masters. He will surely look forward to renew this partnership as he previously stated that Bopanna’s decision to split in 2011 left him in real shock. Nonetheless he paid full respect to hid partner’s decision at that time.
