Australia kicks of the Ashes with a resounding win

A jubilant Australian team walked of the Gabba in Brisbane as Mitchell Johnson took the catch of James Andersen off his own bowling. England was bowled out for 179. Australia emerged victorious in the first of the 5-match Ashes by a massive 381 runs.

It was an all-round performance from the Aussies as they wrapped up an important victory over their arch-rivals in just four days. While the Aussie bowlers had a great australia wins Ashestime with the red cherry in the hand, it was some brilliant batting performance from David Warner and Michael Clarke in the second innings that set up the match nicely for the hosts. Chasing 561 for victory, none of the English batsmen could live up to the expectations as the Australian bowlers bowled with consistent line and length. Alistair Cook was the highest scorer for the visitors with a well made 65. Mitchell Johnson was adjudged the man-of-the-match for his 9-wicket haul in the match.

England has now got not much time to regroup before the second test. The Australians, on the other hand, will look forward to maintain the same intensity in their performance in the second test match as well which is scheduled to begin within a ten days time in Adelaide.
