Ashwin seizes top spot in ICC rankings; Others also advance in the list

Indian off-spinner seized the top spot in the list of ICC player rankings for best all-rounders in test for his match-winning performance in the first test against the Caribbean. Ashwin recorded a stellar performance with the bat and also backed it up with a good bowling performance which enabled India to win the first test in comprehensive manner. While Ashwin scored 124 with the bat after coming in to the crease at a critical time, he also returned with the match figures of 40-11-98-5. He took over Shakib-al Hasan and Jacques Kallis to take the top spot. According to the latest ICC release Ashwin is has got 81 rating points, ahead of second-placed Shakib by 43 points.

Debutant Mohammed Shami who picked up 9 wickets in the match got rewarded as he entered the ICC rankings and is currently placed at the 53^rd position. Man-of-the-match Rohit Sharma who also had a dream debut entered the list of batsmen and is placed at the 63^rd position.
