The Polish have summoned the ambassador of US and demanded an urgent apology over comments on the Holocaust by FBI director Mr James Comey.

Six million citizens of Poland had been killed by the Nazis during the Second World War that caused major disruptions in the world, with half of them being Jews. The foreign ministry of the nation said that Mr Comey had suggested in a ‘Washington Post’ article that some Polish were accomplices in the War.

The Washington Post article on Thursday carried Mr Comey’s message saying, “In their minds, the murderers and accomplices of Germany, and Poland, and Hungary, and so many, many other places didn’t do something evil. However, after the summons, US envoy Stephen Mull stated that clearly the Americans believe that Nazi Germany were the only ones responsible for the acts.”

The comment had received strong uproar throughout, with the President and the Prime Minister of the nation issuing statements to the media, to pacify the people. President Bronislaw Komorowski told to the Polish television that the comments were viewed as deliberate “insult to thousands of Poles who helped Jews” whereas the Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz said, “To those who are incapable of presenting the historic truth in an honest way, I want to say that Poland was not a perpetrator but a victim of World War Two. I would expect full historical knowledge from officials who speak on the matter.”

Ambassador Mull, after Sunday’s summons re-issued statement saying, “I made clear that the opinion that Poland is in any way responsible for the Holocaust is not the position of the United States.

The Nazis ran concentration and death camps in Poland during the brutal period of 1939-45, during which fear aroused in the minds of people and refused to subside. The comments have resulted into protests in Poland with detailed investigation taking place.
