Modi congratulates ISRO Scientists for their Mangalyaan achievement

India becomes the first country ever to successfully get a spaceship into the space orbit on its very first attempt.

Indian scientists at ISRO have successfully created history today as Space Research Organisation’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) spacecraft started orbiting the red planet at 7.47am.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present at the ISRO during this historical events.

“History has been created today. We have achieved the near impossible. I congratulate all ISRO scientists and all my fellow Indians on this historic achievement,” Modi said.

“The moment this mission was named MOM, I knew it would not disappoint. Moms never fail… We dared to reach out to the unknown,” he added.

The Prime Minister congratulated Indian scientists and lauds their achievement.

“The odds were stacked against us. Of the 51 missions attempted across the world so far, a mere 21 had succeeded. But we have prevailed,” Modi said. “We built it indigenously, in a pan-Indian effort, stretching from Bangalore to Bhubaneswar, and Faridabad to Rajkot.”

India also joins a elite group of countries which have placed their spacecrafts in the Mars orbit. US, the European Space Agency and Russia have successfully put their Martian explorers in the Mars orbit.

Incidentally China and Japan have failed to do so after several attempts.

NASA has also sent a congratulatory message to ISRO.
