Kiran Bedi declared BJP’s CM candidate

Putting an end to speculations, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s President declared Kiran Bedi as their Chief Ministerial Candidate for Delhi elections, which are a few weeks away. In a meeting called late night on Monday, at the party headquarters, Kiran Bedi was officially announced as the CM candidate.

The Parliamentary Board of the party has taken this decision to fight under the leadership of Ms Bedi, said the party President Amit Shah. Ms Bedi will be contesting the election as an MLA from 60, Krishna Nagar, which is the party’s traditional seat.

Ever since Ms Bedi joined the party, there were heavy speculations of her being declared as the Chief Ministerial candidate, as the party had no one to project for the post.

Recently, reports of an internal disaccord within the party had surfaced. But the party on Monday officially made this announcement. While making this crucial decision, Amit Shah firmly rejected any disaccord within the party.

A meeting with the Central Election Committee and the Parliamentary Board was held on Monday evening, at the party headquarters, and this decision was announced after this meeting.

“The party always believes to give a platform to those who have done well in several sectors,” said BJP’s party President Amit Shah. He also said that the decision (of declaring Ms Bedi as the CM candidate) was taken unanimously by the party.
