India to allow 4G airwave holders to provide voice serviceAccording to R Chandrashekhar, senior officer – telecommunications ministry, Indian government is planning to allow wireless broadband airwave holders to offer voice services if they pay an additional $306 million.

Along with voice services, the companies will also offer high-speed broadband services if they agree to pay 16.58 billion rupees.

“There is no restriction on the technology that is being used (to provide voice services),” R. Chandrashekhar told reporters on Monday in New Delhi.

This will boost Reliance Industries fate as currently they are the only company in India with 4G broadband airwaves. Reliance has already invested $3.5 billion.
