Indefinite bandh begins in Darjeeling in demand of Gorkhaland

In demand of separate state of Gorkhaland an indefinite strike began in Darjeeling from Saturday.

“The UPA government has announced creation of Telegana overruling opposition from the West Bengal government. Why should not they do it in the case of creating a separate Gorkhaland?” the GJM president Bimal Gurung asked.

Bimal Gurung said that there is no point of negotiating with Mamata Banerjee’s West Bengal government.

“There is no use talking to the West Bengal government as it cannot do anything in this regard,” he said.

 Normal life was hugely affected as all shops, markets, schools, colleges, offices, banks, post offices remained shut down since 6 in the morning in the three districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong.
