Congress suffers humiliating defeat; BJP surges in 4 state

While Congress suffers humiliating defeat in all four major states in the recently concluded assembly polls, BJP is in cloud nine with unprecedented mandate. Bharatiya Janata Party has stormed back to power in Rajasthan with three-fourth majority. BJP also held Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh state and forming the government for the third successive time. In Delhi BJP emerges as the single largest party with inch close to majority. Aam Aadmi Party makes a dream debut in the electoral politics with riding on anti-Congress votes.

Arvind KejriwalFor Congress it was as humiliating as one can expect. They not only defeated with 0-4 margin but the way people have rejected them was unprecedented. Congress not even  get this much thrash from people during emergency. Rahul Gandhi again flopped and he should take blame for the Congress debacle. People rejected Rahul-Sonia’s cheap gimmick and policies. It was double whammy for Congress in Rajasthan and Delhi as they faced anti-incumbency of the state and of the UPA government. The mandate is not only against the state government but also against the central government and its leadership.

‘People do reward government and voted back to power if they work’ – this proves in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. While Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan comes back to power with two/third majority, BJP is forming the government third time in a row. Dr. Raman Singh in Chhattisgarh also secured majority and comes to power for the third time.

RamanSingh, ModiIn Delhi AAP created history after securing by decimating the Congress and stopping the BJP victory march. Sheila Dikshit. The overwhelming votes against the Congress and Sheila Dikshit prove to be a last nail in their coffin. Congress becomes a single digit party in Delhi. Chief Minister Sheil Dikshit’s loss to AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal over 25000 margin is the story of this election.

Its advantage for BJP as  Modi effect did work and ensured BJP victory. Sunday’s result showed people accepted Prime Ministerial Candidate NarendraModi in almost all the sates and helped BJP to regain power in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Narendra Modi’s extensive campaign helped Vasundhra Raje Scindia to sweep away Ashok Gehlot government. Congress suffers most humiliating defeat in Rajasthan and ends up with mere 21 seats. Modi effect also stopped AAP’s wave to get the majority despite their dream debut in the electoral politics. BJP emerges as the single largest party in Delhi after 15 years.

Vasundhara_Raje_Scindia“72 parliamentary seats went to the polls in these assembly segments. The Congress has won very few of them. If arithmetical calculation is made, BJP would have succeeded probably in about 65 out of these constituencies.” said BJP leader Arun Jaitley.

“No one can deny we benefited greatly from our PM candidate Narendra Modi,” said BJP chief Rajnath Singh.

One thing is crystal clear from the result, Congress has been shown doors and BJP got needed boost before 2014 Lok Sabha poll.

2013 Assembly election results:

  Madhya Pradesh Rajasthan Chhattisgarh Delhi
BJP 165 162 49 32
Congress 58 21 39 8
Others 7 16 2 2
AAP 0 0 0 28
