AAP releases first list of candidates for 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In its first major election announcement the Aam AAdmi Party has declared 20 names that are going to take on some biggest political players in the country in the upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha Polls.

Aam Aadmi Party’s candidates include some of its popular faces like Yogendra Yadav, Kumar Vishwas, Medha Patkar, Ashutosh and H S Phoolka who are going to fight some Congress, BJP and other party heavyweights.

Although the first list did not include AAP chief and former Delhi Chief Minuster Arvind Kejriwal, but is is speculated that he will fight the Lok Sabha poll from any of the remaining five seats from Delhi. Former journalist and TV anchor Ashutosh will fight law minister Kapil Sibal in Chandni Chowk, while renowned journalist, Jarnail Singh will take on veteran Congress leader Mahabal Mishra.

Yogendra Yadav will stand for Gurgaon seat against Rao Inderjit Singh and social activist Medha Patkar will fight against Congress leader Sanjay Dina Patil in northeast Mumbai.

Tented minister Suresh Kalmadi will face Subash Ware in Pune constituency and AAP leader Anjali Damania will contest against former BJP president Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur seat.

External affairs minister Salman Khursid will face AAP’s Mukul Tripathi in Farukhabad while I&B minister Manish Tewari will face Phoolka in Ludhiana.

As expected Kumar Vishwas will take on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandh in Amethi seat.

“We are committed to fighting corruption and will reveal the truth behind both BJP and Congress. This was our first list and subsequent ones will follow shortly. It is our aim to field candidates who are honest and committed to the country and there will be no compromise on that,” senior AAP member Manish Sisodia said.
