SC asks why Manmohan Singh was not questioned in coal block allocation case

The Supreme Court on Tuesday criticised CBI over its handling of the Hindalco coal block allocation case and asked why it did not question former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the then coal minister regarding this investigation.

“Shouldn’t the Prime Minister and coal minister have been questioned in the coal scam case involving Kumarmangalam Birla and others,” the special court remarked.

The CBI replied that it did question the PMO officials, but didn’t feel it was necessary to the coal minister.

“The then Coal Minister was not permitted to be examined,” the CBI said.

The court asked for case diary in sealed envelope alongside some other documents in the case.

The next hearing will be on November 27.

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
