Nancy Powell Is The New US Envoy To India

Veteran South Asia career diplomat Nancy Powell is the new US ambassador to India, replacing Timothy Roemer. President Obama has announced the name on Friday at White House.

Powell is very well known diplomatic figure in South Asia. Previously she was the US ambassador in Pakistan (2002-2004) and Nepal (2007-2009).

She has also worked in India as a political counselor at the US Embassy in New Delhi (1993-1995). She was in Kolkata as Consul General (1992-1993). She was the Deputy Chief of Mission in Dhaka (1995-1997).
