Union Minister Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar’s sudden death socked everyone around. Just a day after the couple released a joint statement expressing their solidarity, the Tharoors came into news again with the glamorous wife’s sudden mysterious death and minister’s admission into the AIMS with chest pain and uneasiness.
Sunanda Pushkar’s body was found yesterday at Leela Palace hotel at around 8:30 pm by Shashi Tharoor after he returned from the AICC meet in Delhi. The couple checked into the hotel a day before following the undergoing repairmen works in the house.
The police have lodged an investigation into the case and have started questioning number of hotel staff and checked the CCTV footage of the lobby of the third floor where the couple was staying. According to the staffs she was last seen around 3.30 PM in the hotel lobby.
“Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in her hotel room, lying in her bed, at around 8.30 pm on Friday,” Abhinav Kumar, Shashi Tharoor’s Personal Secretary, told media.
The sources are telling that the 52-year-old Sunanda Pushkar was suffering from TB and also with depression. She was having emotional problem with her husband and she made it public just few hours before her mysterious death. Her public spat on Twitter with 
Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar over her alleged relationship with Shashi Tharoor, was buzzing all day on Thursday. Now whether she committed suicide or it’s a natural death can be established after the post-mortem.
She had accused Tarar of stalking her husband and of being an ISI agent. “We have a hacker and she is stalking my husband. She has hacked into my husband’s computer, into my computer. She is an ISI agent,” Sunanda Pushkar wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
Meanwhile Dr Vijayraghavan, Vice Chairman of the KIMS hospital claimed that the incident surprised him as Sunanda was not suffering from life threatening disease.
“There was no life threatening disease to Sunanda. She walked out of the hospital and she attended a function after being discharged from the hospital,” Dr Vijayraghavan said.
Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor has been discharged from AIIMS after the doctors said he was stable.
“Shashi Tharoor was admitted on Friday night as he was suffering from hypertension, he was having palpitations and experiencing giddiness. Doctors felt it was a minor cardiac event. Has been discharged now. I won’t say it was a precautionary measure. There was some problem, which had to be treated,” said Dr Sharma of AIMS said.
After the autopsy, Sunanda’s funeral will take place at 4 pm today at Lodhi Road crematorium.
Reacting to the news, Mehr Tarar teitted, “What the hell. Sunanda. Oh my God,” adding, “I just woke up and read this. I’m absolutely shocked. This is too awful for words. So tragic I don’t know what to say. Rest in peace,Sunanda.”
