Key witness in Asaram Bapu Rape Case killed

A big blow to the Asaram Bapu rape case as one important witness was shot by unknown persons last night in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district.

Another key witness, Amrut Prajapati, was killed last year in the same fashion in Gujarat.

The deceased, 35-year-old Akhil Gupta, was the cook of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu and the key witness in rape case in which a minor girl alleged that the 72-year-old Asaram sexually assaulted her inside a room at his ashram near Jodhpur for more than an hour, while her parents were sitting outside performing the “ritual” for her daughter’s well-beings directed by the Ashram.

Akhil Gupta had reportedly given his testimonials against the controversial godman.

Asaram Bapu was arrested in August, 2013 and was booked with several charges under the Indian Penal Code.
