Amidst huge controversies, the government of India on Thursday approved the reconstitution of Medical Council of India. Government has approved appointment of former Director General Health Services RK Srivastava as the new Chairman of the MCI’s Board of Governors to look after the medical regulator.
Mr. Srivastava is replacing KK Talwar.
“The formal notification in respect of the MCI reconstitution would be issued tomorrow by the Health Ministry,” PTI quote a top Health Ministry official.
Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad approved the new governing counsel. Only two members from last BoG, Kailash Sharma and K Mohan Das were retained.
The new members of the Board members are:
RK Srivastava (Chairman of BoG)
Raja Babu Panwar (VC – Rajasthan Health University)
BK Rao (Chairman of Critical Care Unit in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi)
AK Bardan (Renowned Cardiologist – West Bengal)
Manoj Singh (Professor of Pathology at AIIMS, New Delhi)
Kailash Sharma (Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai)
K Mohan Das (VC- Kerala University)
