British PM David Cameron refused to return Kohinoor

British Prime Minister David Cameron said that Kohinoor diamond belongs to British and there is no question of returning it to Indians.

David Cameron refused to return Kohinoor to IndiaSpeaking to the reports yesterday, Cameron said, “I don’t think that’s the right approach. It is the same question with the Elgin Marbles. The right answer is for the British Museum and other cultural institutions to do exactly what they do, which is to link up with other institutions around the world to make sure that the things which we have and look after so well are properly shared with people around the world. I certainly don’t believe in ‘returnism’, as it were. I don’t think that’s sensible.”

During British rule, Governor-general Dalhousie forcibly taken 105-carat Kohinoor diamond from India and presented it to Queen Victoria in 1850. Presently Kohinoor is on display in the Tower of London.

India is demanding its return since independence.

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
