Argentine Jorge Mario Bergoglio elected New Pope

115 Cardinals have chosen Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina as the new Pope who will now lead 1.2 billion Roman Catholics across the world.

Jorge Bergoglio has taken the name ‘Francis’ and becomes the first pontiff from Latin America in nearly 1,300 years. He is also the first Jesuit pope in the Vatican’s 2,000-year history.

76-year-old Pope Francis became the 266th pontiff after white smoke poured from a chimney on the roof of the Sistine Chapel, indicating new pontiff had been picked by carnivals on Wednesday.

Pope Francis (Jorge Bergoglio) is known to be a moderator and has strong negotiating skills.
