The Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 that supposedly disappeared in March, last year, with around 240 people aboard has certainly had developments. Australia’s transport minister, in his latest statement to the media, said that two plane parts have been found in Mozambique which “almost certainly” belong to the aircraft. The two chunks of debris were found separately and were flown to Australia for further investigation and analysis. The findings are reported to be “consistent with drift modelling”, bearing the same make as that of the aircraft, and also on how particles from the plane may have been carried afar by the strong tidal currents.

Last year in March, the plane lost all contacts while flying from the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, and is widely believed to have gone down in the Indian Ocean after ‘veering off course’, for unknown reasons. The pilot had been accused to be suffering from some mental trauma that resulted into this, but no concrete evidence could be established on this front. The fate of the entire plane, alongwith its passengers and cabin crew continues to remain as one of aviation’s biggest unsolved mysteries, giving rise to perplexities.

In the meantime, authorities are arranging to collect and further analyse another piece of debris, found at Mossel Bay in South Africa’s southern coast, by a local examiner. It is believed to belong to the plane, since the part bears a minute fraction of the logo of the Rolls Royce, the British plant that manufactures engines for the aircrafts, including the Boeing 777.
