In his address from White House Oval Office, US President Barack Obama called the mass shooting in California an “act of terrorism” and promised to “destroy” the radical Islamic terror group ISIS.

The address came after four days of the shooting by a Pakistan origin Muslim couple.

“They had stockpiled assault weapons, ammunition and pipe bombs. So this was an act of terrorism,” Obama said, adding, “We will destroy ISIS and any other organization that tries to harm us. The threat from terrorism is real, but we will overcome it”.

The Pakistani-origin couple Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik killed 14 people at a office function where people were celebrating the upcoming holidays. May others, mostly disabled, were severely injured in the shooting.

“We should put in place stronger screening for those who come to America without a visa so that we can take a hard look at whether they’ve traveled to war zones,” Obama said.
